Hello.

A problem appeared to a computer of a friend of mine. From time to time. when he has an explorer window open and tries to open up a second one, the first one closes.

Something similar has happened to me sometimes, but in my case the window does not close. It just disappears from the taskbar, so i can reappear it when i click Alt+Tab.So i told him to try the same but it seems that's not the case with him.

Do you know why it happens and how can it be fixed?

Thank you.

Make sure it is not set to do that.

From Microsoft Help:
To open each folder in its own window
Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Folder Options.
On the General tab, under Browse Folders, click Open each folder in its own window.

If you select this option, every folder will open in a new window.
By default, each folder you open appears in the same window and overwrites the previous window contents. To return to this setting, click Open each folder in the same window.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Or if you upgrade to IE7 [or just use FireFox or Opera, or others] you can set each page to open in a new tab.

The Yahool toolbar has been known to cause the problem you're having. If you have the Yahool toolbar installed, uninstall it and see if that solves the problem.

Hmmm.He must have it installed. That must be the problem.I'll tell him to uninstall it to see if it stops.
