I installed W2k server onto my pc then tried to make it a new tree in my domain forrest. I wasn't paying attention and I gave my domain the same name as my server. I'm trying to find out if there is anyway to demote without reinstalling. I have tried to run dcpromo and it tells me my other pc doesn't exist eventhough I can do an nslookup. If anyone has a suggestion I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.

Is the domain in Mixed or Native mode?

Have you tried the steps that are listed in this MSKB article (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q292541) ?

You're very welcome. The only thing about those steps is, if I'm not mistaken, you might have to rebuild User info and settings.
