Sorry to be bothering you all on this federal holiday but my mac is giving me some trouble.
I use a "usb memory stick" to move between my pc and mac. When I put some jpeg files on the desktop they were place as "locked" files. I was able to go into the "get info" pull down and change their properties.
Somehow in the process I changed the settings on the desktop so that a permission/user password is needed. This is the same password that I use for all other application changes on my mac. The correct password doesn't help and is of no use.
The files affected are just the ones on the desktop. Do you know how I can change the settings on the desktop? I am unable to move to trash or place in another folder any file on the desktop.
I checked the permission on all the files on the desktop. I have "read and write" privileges.
Any suggestions besides just use a pc?
