Vista and Linux
anyone tried installing linux on a Vista computer yet? If so, does vista have to be installed on c drive and installed first like xp? Currently I have a laptop that has xp on c drive and vista on d (separate drives - no partitions). I am considering getting rid of xp and install xandros. Not sure how to do it yet.

Not sure, I have not used the latest Beta release of Vista yet, the last time I tried it was Beta 1. At that time, I had linux, netbsd, and windows 2k on the same drive. I installed Vista on this same drive, and used gag to boot between the 4 operating systems (note that the linux partition had grub installed on the linux partition, not the mbr, and netbsd had the bootblocks installed on the netbsd partition also, not the mbr).

Yeah, gag is pretty nice. Another handy utility is Smart Boot Manager. (sourceforge) Similar to gag, but can also boot cdrom, floppy, and external devices such as usb hard drives. Really nice on older machines that cannot boot from a cdrom. Like gag, it is installable, and can boot primary/logical partitions.

just want to give an update.
in spite of it being friday the 13th, I went ahead and installed Xandros with Vista and XP media. The following is the result of how it went. I installed normally, did not do the custom thing. Told it I wanted to keep windows. It installed in less than 10 minutes and work perfectly. As far as my WinXP Media and Vista, well the grub showed the first three normally, the fourth was Windows XP and the 5th was MS Windows. When I press 4, it goes to the Vista Boot Loader which shows up normally and am able to access either vista and xp normally. The number 5 thats MS Windows - I have not figured that one out yet, but it goes to a blank screen and stops there so I have to unplug the computer to restart - I plan to get it out of the grub. So now we know.
