This is for outlook (from office 2003); sorry I'm not sure where this subject belongs, I hope this is the right place.

In any case, some of our users are unable to remove delegates from their delegates list. These individuals are no longer employees, so they no longer have active accounts. When the remove attempt is made, the changes will be made and the two individuals will come back.

We had a similar department wide problem in which individuals could not add delegates (told they didnt' have permission even if they were system/local admins). We fixed this by getting rid of a specific windows update patch for outlook (that prevented delegates adding and fixed some other miniscule detail).

Please help with removing delegates, I have looked all over on the web and came up with nothing so far :(. Thanks all.

If you cannot remove someone's Delegates then that user has Send on Behalf permissions on that users mailbox. In AD, go to Exchange Properties, Delivery Restrictions Tab and then remove the Send of Behalf of permissions for the users who cannot be removed from delegates. After that remove them from Delegates, apply and they won't be back.

Hi Murph, thanks for the help. I tried searching in active directory and could not find exchange properties anywhere.

What we did instead was go to the user, looked @ their advanced properties and securities, and removed the two users (along with their 'send as') rights.

The original person still reports they are unable to remove the two users. I know I didn't follow your exact steps, but any information and insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How about:

Re-enabling the disabled user, creating a mailbox for this user, logging into outlook as the person with the problem then you may be able to delete the delegate for good. Then delete the mailbox and the user again.
