I just acquired a P.C. with a huge problem. The only problem which I believe is solvable is that when I try and open any program other than Windows Explorer I am told that ' This program does not have a file attached to it to perform this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.' Help would be appreciated. It has been sugested that the easiest way would be to nuke the drive and start from scratch, any other ideas would be appreciated.

It sounds like the files have lost their associations; that is, Windows has lost the ability to tell from the file extension what programs to use to open files.
There are fixes you can download from this page. Read the directions on that page on which to use first. |
