COLUMBUS, Ohio Oct 12, 2006 (AP)— A man who couldn't find steady work came up with a plan to make it through the next few years until he could collect Social Security: He robbed a bank, then handed the money to a guard and waited for police. [more]http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=2559884

Imagine if a lawyer got him out of it?? (After all the trouble he went thru)

Hmm. Not a bad idea I guess, but not very smart either... at least he only gets a gross misdemenor charge (unless of course he had a gun or other weapon present, in which case it would be more likely to be a felony)...
Too bad that's what the world is coming to today - it's better to live in prison for three years than it is to go out and find a job. Oh well, at least he was smart enough to hand over the cash and not put up up a fight.

strange things are happening, a couple of weeks ago, a man beat the tar out of his mother, the judge was going to release him on 30k bond and the man demanded a higher bond. The judge raised it to 50k.

similarly a few years ago a man robbed a local bank because he could not afford cancer treatment for his wife, he did it, turned himself so his family can go on welfare so she can get treated.

Sad is we can afford to help everyone in america with money problems, and we waste it on space exploration, not to mention other pointless things across the country..

I think he mean's we *can't* afford to help everyone...
And too true. Though, I have to say, welfare is over-rated. I know, tons of people are truly needy and it helps them a lot. But there are other people who abuse the system and get pregnant again just so they can stay on welfare and not have to work... that's crap if you ask me. (No i'm not making this up... my parents have been budget counselors for over 20 years, they have many many stories of people who abuse the system).
