Unhappy Internet adapters

Hi there,

Every time i try to connect with aol now it tries to connect with an ICShare adapter instead of a PPP adapter. Can someone please tell me what this ICShare adapter is, and how to keep it from starting with it. I would like to connect with the PPP adapter every time. It has given me much grief. Help please.

Hi spidey, welcome to Cyber Tech Help.

You probably have something turned on you don't need, ICS.
Internet Connection Sharing

To shut it off...

Control Panel
Add/Remove Programs
Windows Setup
(tab)
two-click on Internet Tools
uncheck Internet Connection Sharing
say OK
say OK
reboot

One of two ways.

The ever famous "tinkering and clicking"

or

saying "YES" or "OK" to something that you don't quite understand.

Control Panel is a spot where many novice computer users go when
they feel they want their computer to do something "computer'ish"
that will amaze and astonish them. The experimental clicking goes
on from there and in some of these sessions there may be multiple
alterations done to the computers "control" setting. Many of these
changes don't occur until the computer reboots.

Anyway, your welcome and glad your fix'd.

I accidentally made netscape as a defualt browser. Could this have done it. I accidentally hit enter when this menu popped. Then i was like shoot. Would that have done it?

No. You would have to be in "Windows Setup" (where we turned
it off) or running some software that deals with your Internet
connection or Networking.
