I just ran across an article about a test program to track passengers at airports. See this (http://news.com.com/New+RFID+tech+would+track+airport+passengers/2100-7355_3-6125799.html)

The inventors of a new monitoring system that uses RFID tags claim it could improve airport security by tracking passengers as they mingle in the departure lounge.
The plan is to issue an RFID (radio frequency identification) tag to every passenger at check-in (http://news.com.com/Will+airport+of+the+future+fly/2100-1008_3-6115126.html?tag=nl) so human traffic can be monitored throughout the airport via transponders and video cameras.

I wonder, first airports, then government buildings, then schools, then everyone else. Big Brother will soon be here.

What's to keep people from throwing them away?
ex: Get yout tag, go to the bathroom, throw the tag into the trash, walk around airport undetected. WARNING!!!WARNING!!!, untagged person in airport-shoot to kill.

George Orwell was right.

I read about that too. Something else I found out too, which amazed me. Aparently the UK is CCTV crazy. An example is there is more CCTV's in Milton Keynes (Small Town outside London) than in New York City! Not sure how true that is though.

A useful application for rfid at last Dan!

I've posted in every RFID chat so far about turning off your mobile if you don't want to be tracked, so I'm with you there Jer

If I don't wish to be tracked, I can go incognito - however, at an airport, I'm expected. They know I'm approximately when I'm coming, where I'm going too and if I'm in a party or going solo. No sweat being RFID'd in this scenario.
