Smile Start up very slow

Installed Windows Microsoft Defender, installed trial of Ace Utilities (14.10.06). Used Ace to clean up, optimise, etc. When I restart laptop, it takes 7 secs for logon screen to come up (I don't want to logon with password and cannot get 'options' in logon box to give me anything - (1) what do I do to skip this box?).
Takes 15 secs for desktop icons to load (that's ok), but then takes a minute for the wireless network not connected message to come up (refer prev. msge - will turn off switch and see if that works). Then loads three boxes on right, Data/Music/Disc Backup.
Next message is is text saying 'Windows Installer - preparing to install,' then immediately another text saying Norton's Windows Firewall is enabled, do I want to turn it off, I say no. Then another text headed Nortons 2005, NOrton Anti-Virus 2005 does not support 'repair feature' please uninstall and reinstall. If I click okay continues to finish loading. (2) Do they mean turn off windows firewall and use the firewall in Nortons.?
(3)What 'repair feature' does the msge refer to - can't uninstall and reinstall Norton's as previous was an online upgrade (no disc).

In Ace in the start up manager under 'Logon,' I have 30 items which have ticks (most are to do with security and/or ones (9 of them) which say from Microsoft don't touch) and in 'Services' 15 items ticked.(nearly all to do with security Not sure if this is slowing things down but only receive Windows Installer and message from Nortons re not supporting repair feature since installing Defender.

(4) Do I turn off windows firewall?

Basically more convulted and slower to start up than it was previously. Thanks (If I am meant to condense this somehow please advise.)

if ace slowed you down then you can reverse it to get back where you were either through windows restore point or through ace utilities restore feature.

I would suggest not doing anything to your registry until you get a few of your other threads taken care of.

One other thing to consider, with you also installing windows defender its difficult to figure out which utility is causing the problems.
