Can you help?

I purchased a Philips Model: SNK5620/05 wireless router with ADSL modem. I uploaded the software and set up the base station as instructed in the packaging. The signal is excellent (>=85%) but I cannot connect to the internet. I have ran the wizard several times but to no avail. My ISP is Tiscali Broadband. Is there something obvious I am missing??

Any help would be most welcome (I am running out of hair to pull out) :D

Cheers

I have an ACER laptop and a desk top PC. In the first instance I am trying to log onto the internet from the desktop. I have a Wireless USB adaptor for the desktop (as part of the router package). Both the laptop and desktop run Windows XP. I have still to look at the laptop - I think it is wirless enabled, but to be safe I have acquired another wirless USB adaptor. The cabling has been connected up correctly, including connecting a filter. I thought the router transmitted to the desktop, but will I need to connect up to the desktop?

Cheers

I suggest getting the router to work with a wired connection first.
make sure you can access the router. Then check the status ON the router.

I haven't played with DSL much, but most (if not all) require you to log in. Have you set up the router to login to your ISP?

Theres also a bunch of other settings too, like Encapsulation Mode and VCI. I found a link on the tiscali website which should help with those settings.

Router settings for Tiscali (http://uk-tiscali.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/uk_tiscali.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=73&p_created=1132746240&p_sid=lyq9Cgki&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfc m93X2NudD0yNTkmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPSZwX3B2PSZwX2N 2PSZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfc GFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1)

We don't know how you were connected before, but make sure your computer is using the same local network (typically 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x) as your new router.

Many thanks for all who replied. I have printed off all your suggestions and at present am trying to get the PC on-line. I have a broadband conection using a Sagem modem using Tiscali and hope to get the wireless system working today. If you have any further suggestions please feel free to post them.

Many thanks again.

Just to add,

once you finish setting it up and attempt to go online, internet explorer will try to dial up/login to the broadband (it still thinks you are using the modem). To stop this go to internet explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > and choose never dial a connection.

To all who helped, I have got the wireless router up and running. I used all your help suggestions to sort the problem and I would like to pass on my thanks. Even the laptop is cable free. Cheers to you all.
