Is it possible to buy an adapter that would plug into a wired router and turn it into a wireless router?

Cheers, Jack

(my router is a linksys)

Yes. A Wireless Access Point (http://www.google.com/search?q=wireless+access+point&safe=vss&vss=1&sourceid=mozilla-search&start=0).

Agree - probably a number of products on the market; I have had an Asus WL-330 (http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1689) for over a year - take it on the road w/ my IBM 'wireless' laptop - if only a wired ethernet connection is offered in the room, then the device can be used as a 'wireless' access point (can also be used as an ethernet adapter); have not tried it w/ a 'wired' router but should probably work (not sure that you're save a lot of money vs. just buying a new router w/ built-in 'wireless') - good luck in you search & selection.
