I have made a clone of my XP system using the clone facility in Acronis True Image. Everything seems to go fine but the clone (when made master with correct jumpers) will not boot.
I have successfully used this method on my other computer running XP so why should it not run on this one?

As I understand it, you've cloned the drive while it was in Computer A as a slave. Then you re-jumpered the drive and are now trying to use it as the master on Computer B.

If that's the case, no, it won't work. When XP installs, it basically inventories the hardware of the system it's being installed on. If it doesn't find that same hardware next time, it chokes.

Hi Miz,
No that is not the case. There are two separate scenarios. On the first machine (XP) the clone made on that and changed to master on the same machine did work although it took three attempts before it booted properly.
The problem is on a second machine(also running XP) with a clone made on the second machine and set to become master on the second machine. That one will not boot.
