Hi, I have been having a problem where about every 5 minutes, the network (I think), stops responding for about 20 seconds, I know this because of online gaming  . I have tested on other computers and it does the same thing at different times, sometimes at the same time. Sometimes it stops completely, where as sometimes i will still receive information, i just cannot send any. I have a Netgear WGR614v6.
Thanks

Hi,

I've seen a problem like yours before and it had to do with the IP lease time from the DHCP server on the router. Whenever one of those home routers renews an IP, it drops the connection for a second or two until it allocates a new (usually the same) address. Basically, what you should do is find somewhere in your router settings the lease time. The default is usually 2 weeks but I'm not too sure about the Netgear router.

I remember once I set up my D-Link router to a lease time of 2 hours and it was doing a release/renew everytime which makes you go :curse:

Not sure if this will fix your problem but it's definitely worth a try. In any case, my advice is to set your lease time to the longest possible because IP renewal is a major pain in the ass when it comes to home-user routers.

Good luck!
