having incombatability issues...

Hey everybody...First I would like to thank all the gurus out there that make this website so informative.

I'm having a problem with POPT2T (go figure right) I have read through all the posts in the appropriate forums and this doesn't seem to be covered there.

I have taken all the neccesary tasks to make the game work (unplugging ide, uninstalling starforce applications, using DT4, etc...

The problem I think I'm having, and I would like it confirmed please, is that there are some things within my system that are not compatible with the game. I noticed a few red X's and a yellow exclamation point when starting the game when it's going through my system to make sure I am compatible. The three flagged items that I see are as follows:

64MB video memory or higher mine is 32MB

compatible graphics card and driver mine is an unsupported card-NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200

pixel shader 1.1 support no pixel shader support detected

My question is...

Is this the reason that when I start the game, enter the code and hit play the screen goes black like its getting ready to start and then shuts down and goes back to my desktop?

If so, what is important to making the game run and where do I purchase these items?

What are the rest of your system specs? Is your video card onboard the motherboard? If not, is it PCI or an AGP card?

Actually, what that information is telling you is that you need a faster Video card with at least 64mb of memory, more is probably better as it will play more games.

And the reason I asked about other specs is so we can tell you which video card you can add to your present system.

I actually have little knowledge of the things you are talking about. All I can find is something that says PCI bus, but I also see an "intel processor to an AGP controller" Does this help at all? I guess my main question was wether or not this would be the cause for the way the game is behaving. Everytime I click on the game get everything set up, it will flash like its starting the game and then click and go back to my desktop. Does this sound like behaviour you would expect with my computer the way it is? Mainly the graphics card and the video memory its asking for?

The behavior your computer is experiencing is indicative of onboard video for playing games. You need another video card, one with more video memory, and not one built into the motherboard you have. Download and install the small program from the link below. It's called Everest and it will tell how to tell us what motherboard you have or what computer you have.

http://www.cybertechhelp.com/downloa...t-home-edition

Once downloaded, open it, click on the Plus sign in the left window beside Motherboard, in the list click again on the word Motherboard, then tell me what it says. If it doesn't list what the motherboard name and model is, do you have a branded computer such as Dell, HP/Compaq, Gateway or other brand? If so, what is the name and model number of it?

Ok, now I find you don't have an integrated graphics card but you do have a low end graphics card. Your card is inserted in the available 4x/2x AGP 1.5v slot. Which means, you can upgrade to bether graphics card that will allow you to play other games besides this one: POPT2T.

The one in the link will work in your AGP slot. It's better than the Nvidia FX5200 which has heating up problems. So even if you decide to go with something other than the FX5500 don't chose the FX5200.

You don't say if you're in the US so just as a caution, newegg doesn't ship outside the US at the present time. If you are in the US newegg is the best place to buy computer parts. Fast shipping/delivery within three days most places and friendly reliable service.

Can you say for sure or not if this is the reason the game won't play?

yes, I can say for sure it's the limited video card that will not play the game. Any game that starts then takes you back to the desktop is an indication the video card is not sufficient to play games.

Hey, sorry about the no response for a while there. I downloaded a virus and had to reformat. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and I will be taking your advice and upgrading to a better video card. You guys are a great help.
