It has been like this for 11 hours now, it gives me no errors or anything it just keeps saying "signing in"..........it worked fine before I restarted my computer

I have tried rebooting, reinstalling the program, and doing a release+renew from my router......still nothing

It works just fine on my other computer (using same account)......it works on that computer both through my network and when directly connected to modem.......

Why does it only now stop connecting, why does it work on the other computer, and how can I get it to friggin connect?

p.s. I contacted Microsoft about it on the help page for the program but I have not got a response yet (when they do respond I'm guessing it won't help)

No idea of the solution, but a google for "windows live connection problem" returns 18.2 million results ;)

Good Luck :)

You could try the web version as a temporary measure...

MSN Web Messenger (http://webmessenger.msn.com/)

Uses your usual name & password and shows all your usual contacts etc etc.

WLM does that every now and then, usually it's because too many people are trying to sign in at once. Just try signing in every once in a while.

Also have you got the latest version? it could be because it's outdated.

Newest version, reinstalled and all like I said.....I'm just confused as to why it works just fine on the other computer, but not my computer........

Create your own topic, don't hijack others.......

OK for some reason 2 people from Microsoft emailed me (each sent the same email twice too)......one said to use the web version, other had me change the registry and it worked!

Here is what she wrote:

Note: Before you modify the registry, visit the following Web site to learn more about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;256986.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly.

1. Click on Start and Run and type in REGEDIT and hit Enter
2. In the registry editor, click on “HEKY_CURRENT_USER”, followed by “Software”, followed by “Microsoft”, followed by “MSNMessenger”, and followed by “Policies”.
3. Select the “Policies” key and delete the folder.
4. Restart your machine.
5. Sign into Windows Live Messenger again

Just go to this forum (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18), and look at the top left of the forum, click new "new topic" and then enter a topic name (something descriptive, such as "incredimail problem" rather just something like "I need help")......then ask your question is the box below and include information about your computer (such as what OS your run, i.e. WinXP home, Win98se and what version of the program you are using and any errors you get)
