As long as its a Wireless G 802.11G adapter it should work. Sometimes its best to use an adapter made by the same vendor as the router just to cut down on any compatibility issues that may come up. The reason this works better as you may well have guessed is that a company that makes a router and a network adapter normally test the two products together before they ship then for public sale. This is not to say they will work any better together than mixed products but its SOP for large companies. So don't fear buying an adapter made by another company it will most likely work just fine, but if you need that extra peace of mind go on and get a Belkin made adapter.

Thanks. I can't get it to work. The wireless card is in a 98SE PC and the router is connected to my XP PC. I'm online with the router on XP, but the 98SE PC won't connect to the internet. Have been to Belkin's site. Not much help. The funny thing is, the 98SE pc that can't connect to the internet, updated AVG just fine. What is up?

thats odd. Can you run ipconfig/all on the 98 machine and post the info back here?

Got the 98 machine online. For a short period of time. In Internet Options under lan settings, the proxy box was checked. Unchecked it and it got online right away. On all night last night. Then today won't connect again. Again in the Internet Options I unchecked the automatically detect settings box. Back online. Now won't connect again. Oh and I couldn't get IPconfig/all to run on the 98 machine. Any ideas? Thanks

This info looks fine. Did you capture it while the internet was working?
Hows the signal strength? Do have cordless phones, sometimes they can interfere?

Yes, this was while the internet was working. I wanted to see what the info was in ipconfig/all while the internet wasn't working, however it hasn't gone down again yet. Signal strength looks good, never under 85%. and yes I have a cordless phone, but it's in my room with the XP machine, not where my mom's 98 pc is. I downloaded a free version of Network Magic to monitor the network. Any info on Network Magic? I'm not going to buy it as the free version does what I need if it works. Thank you for all the help, Dave

Network magic is ok. I played with it for a little while, but removed it from my system. I didn't like that it added its own processes and own file sharing. I also found it generated what I consider quite a bit of network traffic.
You said you are using network magic to monitor the network. What exactly are you monitoring? There may be more light weight methods to see the same info.

Just would like to know if my moms pc is still connected, or if it had disconnected itself again. Also, while I'm trying to figure out the issue with her pc staying connected, I don't have any encryption protection running on hers. Thought maybe the program would be useful in monitoring for intruders. BTW, I removed her wireless card, uninstalled the software and reinstalled. So far, so good. Any Ideas on some better monitoring sortware? I'm all ears. Thanks, Dave

Glad to hear its working. I'm not coming up with alternatives at the moment, but if I remember correctly some of the features you are using are time limited. But, if its working for you thats what counts. ;)

Well it seems the problem is resolved. It's been running fine all day. I'll give it another day or two, and if all goes well I'll enable encryption to protect the network. Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it. Dave
