I want to buy Microsoft Office to use at home as Microsoft Works isn't very good but I can't afford the proper version so I was thinking of buying the Student & Teacher version. When I did some research on the net it said that you can only get a license for it if you are a student, I am not anymore so would I still be able to use it or do they ask for proof that you are a student when you get the license. Amazon & pc world sell it so I thought anybody would be able to use it.

You have to send your student details so you need to have current details.

I agree, check out open office (http://www.openoffice.org/) thats all I use anymore even though I do have two legal copies of office.

as far as microsoft office, I purchased a copy of Microsoft Office 2003 student/teacher at a local walmart and did not have to send anything in. I got it because I was working for a local college.

One time I read that microsoft don't mind if the general public purchased that version as long as it was for home use. I wished I still had that source. The only restriction to it is a biggie, you cannot upgrade from it to a newer version. However, unless someone comes up with a valid source about this, regard it as bad info.
