I know nothing about networking. From my basic understanding of networking, it is any two or more computers that connect together somehow wether it be in a home or office or on the internet? I'm not sure?
I am not interested at this point in connecting to any computer in the home! But I do want to share the internet connection! My question: Is this considered networking if two computers are connected to a firewall router and do we have to run the network wizard?

It is a Network, it's just not File Sharing.

Ok, How do we set it up? If we don't want to share?

Plug both PCs into the Router.
Check the Router manual for details.

I'll admit I've always been confused by the definitions of 'network' and 'networking.'

I run three to four PCs at home connected to a wireless router to connect to the Internet via cable. I did not run a network wizard on any PC. Merely configured the router and connected the PCs. Same at work, many PCs connected for the sole purpose of Internet connection through a router. No print or file sharing, no running of a network wizard.

A computer network is an umbrella term for any number of computers connected together in one way or another. A network does not require use of the Network Setup Wizard on Windows XP, this wizard is only used to simply a regular home network setup. This setup can also be done manually under a few different menus and options in Windows. In many cases, you can just plug in the network gear without any setup at all.

Thanks all, That's what I thought and thats what I did. I just simply plugged both computers into the router and saved the settings on the router setup page. I had been having some connection problems with one of the computers though, so I wasn't sure if I had to run the network wizard since I didn't want to file share. Both computers seem to be working fine now though.

Mine just screwed up again!!! This is a random thing with no explanation as there has been no changes to the Computer other than I did uninstall zone alarm and reinstall it , it seemed to help for a few minutes but I don't think zone alarm is the problem!!! Am I being hacked?
