Hi,
I've tried for a while now to sort out this problem without any luck, so i've decided to seek some help. My problem is that whatever game im playing, after a certain amount of time will hang and i will need to do a hard-reboot as nothing else responds. I get the following error message in the event viewer and on googling this information i've found others with similar symptoms as me but nobody seems to have a solution: http://www.suggestafix.com/lofiversi...hp/t17908.html http://www.pcguide.com/vb/archive/in...p/t-30199.html Event Viewer Error Message: The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 6. I've tried most things i can think of, namely memtest to check for bad ram, all was fine, updated all my drivers without any luck and tried a few different BIOS settings to see if that was the culprit, still no difference. Sometimes i can play an hour or two, other times it's crashed twice in a half an hour. The games i play are Medal of Honour Allied Assault & Battelfield 2. The same error occurs on both games. If you require any more information let me know and i'll post it up. Hopefully somebody has seen or knows how to fix this error and i can get it sorted once and for all. Thanks in advance. Rizla^ |

What are your system specs? Like what is in my sig at the bottom? I will need all the info about your power supply, CPU, Motherboard, Graphics card and Ram. Once we have all the info about your system then we can go about fixing the problem. Plus it might help if you can provide information about your case just incase its a heat problem.

First of all click on the link below and select the game you are playings the click on Can You Run It. See if that comes up with any problems if not do you have your system overclocked? Have you tried taking off the side panel and tried playing it that way? It will rule out a heat issue in the case.

Hi again,
My pc comes up higher than the 'Recommended' for both games. I know it's not a heat issue as the temperature for my system to hang is 56 C and using the Asus probe while im gaming, Alt + tabbing out of the game, tells me my system is running at a steady 46 C. I'm not overclocking my system at all. Again im at a loss, but as always any further suggestions are welcome. Regards Rizla^ |

There are sensors that do not register the true temps. Just try running your games with the side panel panel off and maybe a fan blowing into the side of the case just to rule the temps out. If it still hangs after doing that then you might have another program trying to do something in the back ground that causes the problem. Try the side panel off just to check! Then get back to me.

Do you ever have a look at the temp of the VIDEO CARD GPU and RAM when it crashes?
Have you blown any dust out of the CPU & GPU Heatsinks?

Yeah i've checked the GPU core temperature, which never really goes above 75 C, in my control panel it says that the 'Core Slowdown Threshold' is 145 C. I don't know how to check the temp of my ram? Also when i took the side panel off the other day, i took the oportunity to clean out the dust and crap inside it. The problem remains i'm afraid to say

Depends on whether your cardmaker included sensors.
See Everest screenshot attached. 75°C is about the top end limit I would ever want to see that chip. If you are running at close to that temp for sustained periods of gaming, then that could well be causing the instability. If the system was dusty, you really should disassemble the fans and blow out the heatsinks.

Example attached of what my CPU heatsink looked like recently despite me blowing out the dust from the fan and case regularly.
