Woolworths (UK) break release dates
When visiting my local games shop (I won't mention any names just in case) today, the manager received a phone call to say that Woolworths had put on sale all games that were due out on Friday, thus breaking any release dates. So after I left the game shop I decided to have a look and sure enough games like Fifa 07 and Dark Messiah due to be released on Friday were all on the shelves. So I picked up a copy of Dark Messiah and went to the till and to my surprise it rang through with no alarms going off. So I am now the proud owner of DM 3 days before it's due to go out, lol. I don't know whether this is just the Leicester branch of Woolworths and down to inexperienced staff or country wide thing Woolowrths are doing but they could be in alot of trouble with the publishers either way. The manager of the Games store did say that because Fifa 07 is an EA game they can fined anythng upto £100,000 and ban them stocking EA games for 6 months for breaking release dates. So if you have a Woolworths in your area it might be worth a shot if you were waiting for any game to be released on Friday. btw you don't need to install Steam to play DM singleplayer but you do need to install it to play multiplayer.
