I'm helping out a friend with their IBM Thinkpad with Windows XP Home Ed. She has a number of wireless connections. One through Verizen Broadband activated through an insertable card, and the other through her home wireless G network using a Linksys wireless router and linksys signal booster. Her Thinkpad gives me a DNS error and page cannot be displayed window. The Thinkpad has two ways of managing the wireless connections. One is through a program called Vantage, which when using this program, I show excellent signal strength and connectivity as the program acquires an IP address and sets TCP/IP, but still no Internet. When I close out Vantage and use Windows to manage the wireless connections, the computer cannot detect any wireless signals.
Some additional info:

-She originally had Symantec AV and firewall software. After expiration, she attempted to purchase the update but was directed to purchase a Symantec client managing software for AV and firewall protection. She installed. This didn't work, so she purhcased Nortan AV 2004 and installed.

-The Symantec client manager has since been removed, but I haven't removed and reinstalled Nortan AV yet.

-TCP/IP settings for all devices are set to acquire IP address and DNS server.

-Another wireless workstation has no trouble connecting through the home network, though I think the Linksys devices can only assign 1 IP address so if I attempt to connect the Thinkpad through here, I need to disconnect the laptop and reset the wireless devices before using the workstation.

I'm not sure how much of this info is relevant, but I'm hoping that someone can visualize our issues and provide some guidence or direction on this.

thanks,
