Almost every time we turn on the iMac, it says Unable to find driver for this platform "PowerMac 8,1". If I look farther down the screen, it says No debugger configured. I just ran disk permissions, and i fixed the permissions. I also did verify disk, and it found no problems. Should I try to shut down, since the disk permissions is correct, and see if problems persist?

You should probably boot from the OS CD and then use Disk Utility to verify the disk and repair it.

Just found out the problem. The motherboard was messed up, so Apple is fixing the problem for free.
By the way Buzz, repairing disk permissions does not fix every mac problem.

I know it doesn't fix everything. But it's a good place to start.. just like trashing preferences.
If you know so much about fixing things.. I guess you won't ever need my help again then.

It's a technical support forum. People who post generally aren't looking for jokes and levity. They are looking for help, often after being frustrated. Seriously is the only way to take things when dealing with technical support.
