Is this a stand alone computer or part of a home network? Is there a router in the mix or not? What ver of Windows are you using? Can you surf the internet normally just not get to these online virus scanners?

If you right click My Computer it a window will poip up. On the first general tabe it should tell you what ver of Windows you have installed and if you have any service packs installed it would say SP1 or SP2 if it doesn't then you don't have any service packs and you need to install SP2 asap.

Ok so this problem may be two fold. You may have some spyware or viruses but then again you may not. I would like to see SP2 installed as it can fix many errors and patch the computers security holes. However its never a good idea to install SP2 without making sure its clean first. If you could go to the Cyber Safety forum here at CTH and post a hijackthig log for the experts to read it would help us to either find out if you are clean or if you need to clean things up before installing SP2. Take a look at THIS post it will tell you what you need to do in order to post a log and how to go about it.

That is good news. So now that you are all clean do you have SP2 installed yet? This may seem like much to ask but in the long run it will help you in many ways.

Well it does fix alot of errors and patches more than a few security holes. For example SP2 will keep you from getting sasser or mydoom as it patches services that those tend to latch on to. SP2 also improves usb support and networking options.
