Hey, i've been playing GTA San Andreas for a while now, and installed some mods on it which i realise was a bad idea, because it caused the game to not function at all anymore, i would go to load a game, and it would get halfway through loading, and freeze up completly, same thing happens when i attempted to start a new game.
I uninstalled all the mods and San Andreas from my system completly, including all the user files and anything on the system which had the slightest link to it.
now when i try and put the cd back in to install the game again and start from scratch it sais 'play GTA San Andreas' and comes up with the menu screen as if it is still installed.
It still has the function that sais 'Uninstall GTA San Andreas', but when i click this is comes up with the following error message:

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (469)
PAPP:Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
PVENDOR:Rockstar Games (http://www.rockstargames.com/)
PGUID: D417C96A-FCC7-4590-A1BB-FAF73F5BC98E
$10.50.0.125
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

and when i click ok:

Setup has experienced an error.

Please do the following
-close any running programs
-empty your temporary folder
-check your internet connection (internet-based setups)

The try to run the setup again

Error code -5001

I havent got the slightest clue why this is happening, i have done all the above steps and everything.
Any help would be appreciated.

check your computer for the san andreas folder and delete the folder. Also run a registry cleaner and see if it will help. Alot of times when you uninstall something the folders and some settings will remain.

I would suggest using ace utilities (http://www.acelogix.com/) and run the wizard mode. It has a free 30 day uncrippled trial. There are other goods ones out there also.
