For some time now ive been using ICS on an ad-hoc network with no problem. However after some (completely unneccesary ;)) tweaking i killed it. I've got back to the stage of having a working ad-hoc network but.........i can't use the internet anymore. When i look at my ip configuration with HoverIP theres quite a few blank fields whereas before they were all full.

PLEASE HELP :D

Did you 'share' the internet connection on the host machine?
Is the client machine setup to use DHCP?

Yes the modem has been set to share and dhcp is enabled. It was working fine until i removed the old network and tried to create a new one.

The network connects in exactly the same way as if the modem was switched off, even though its switched on and plugged in.

It's like the server hasn't informed the network
it has internet access. What that means in technical terms i have no idea - but its really giving me a headache :dizzy:

I've just changed the data encyption from WEP to Disabled and it all works fine. As soon as i set the encryption back to WEP it reverts back to no internet.

What does this mean?

Is this the connection between the 2 PCs? Mack sure you have the same key on both PCs.

Update: I've been trying for about a month to resolve this issue and its still on-going.
I can only use the internet when data encryption is disabled.
The moment i select any form of encryption i loose ICS but remain connected to the server computer. Its becoming more urgent now as other people have been connecting to the network. :'(

Please help

UPDATE: It's finally fixed :). I went through the wireless network setup wizard for the 100th time, paying special attention to the details being exactly right between machines. I also chose wep encryption instead of wpa. This time it has worked, its now back to normal.

I think it may have been an incompatibility with wpa, or maybe even the network keys as suggested. Thanks to CTH and Z1p from pointing me in the right direction of making sure everything was the same.
