punk buster exits call of duty 2

whenever i try to turn on my punkbuster in the call of duty 2 menu, the game exits and when i go back to it the punkbuster still isnt on, how do i fix this i cant get on any good severs

Make shore you have the latest patch for the game.

Go and manually update punkbuster.

i got all the updates and that doesnt work

Try this, From the Multiplayer Menu, open the console HIT THE ~key and type:
/seta cl_punkbuster "1"

If that don't work try this One other way maybe to alter the config file manually which id located in COD2's main directory,
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players
open the folder of your gaming name i.e stomer
In that folder you will see config_mp.cfg or config_mp
open this with wordpad or notpad

search for "cl_punkbuster "
at the line it will say

/seta cl_punkbuster "1"
/seta cl_punkbuster "0"

either way retype to "1" and do a file save
restart the game and it should then allow PB to work.
