AMD 64 X2 vs. Core duo
These two are supposed to pretty much be equals, right? Should I bother trying to find a latop with a Core 2 Duo for a decent price (around $1000-1100) or will the 64 X2 be sufficient? Is that a CPU that's still popular? I won't really be doing any gaming but down the road I like to know I made a good purchase so is the Core 2 Duo becoming a must have? I can handle everthing else in a PC but the CPU's always give me trouble because there seems to be a new one every week.

If cost isn't much of an issue, go with the AMD x2, they are supposed to be more stable and reliable than the intel processors.

cool. thanks....that's what i was looking for. do you think the X2 is something that will be sufficient let's say 2 years down the road? is there much difference between 1.6 GHz and 2.0 GHZ speeds? should i put much importance on that? i just can't keep up with laptop trends so these are the things i need to ask. there's so much bias depending on which article you read, so it's nice to get answers from real consumers that are probably just as knowledgable.
oh yeah...do you (or anybody else) think the graphics card is worth upgrading, assuming what comes stock is on-board? i don't do much gaming at all (none really) but i don't something substandard either. also, i don't want to rule out that i'll never do any in the future. thanks again. |
