I am ponying up my cash to the B*stards at At&t and they do not support routers unless they can sell them to you. I have a linksys 2.4 gig 802.11b router i used to have going when I had cable modem.

Can I still use this? My follow up question is now I live in a multi-unit building and want to password protect access to my network.

Windows 2K, ABIT AN7 mother board with Athlon CPU, built myself.

As long as the dsl modem has an ethernet port you could use that same router and it would be fine. The thing to do as far as security goes would be to enable WEP or WPA and set a key then use that key with your wireless computers to access the network. It would also be nice to use wireless MAC filtering for added security.

the most common way is to setup the wep within your router. this way no one can access your network without the security code. As far as the specific router you have, it should work.

FYI - I also have att and am using their combo wireless router/modem (2wire). IMO, its worth the money and saves time and makes it easier to track problems. Otherwise you will have to have a separate modem and router.
