Hello I have a IBM thinkpad with win 2000 I have a ethernet adapter card and I'm trying to connect to the network at work, it connected at first but then lost it's connection, It's saying I'm connected with 4 packets sent and 2 received but I cannot get online or nothing it's very agitating I'm sure you understand I've been trying to find a laptop and now I have one and I can't get on any suggestions would be great

Have you checked with your IT Department and have them set it up for you??

The other half of our office is in the middle of moving so the it guy is indisposed and don't have time for anyone

Well, I do think you need to be setup as a user on the server with the proper IP and dns server addresses placed on your office network connection and only the IT can can do that!!
