Choose the file right click and choose properties and then change the program that opens it

try paint

Any Digital Image Viewer/Editor should open
..gif files. Try Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Let me explain and by the way thanks so much for your time.
The gif files came as attachments in a Yahoo photo album from a friend.
When I click on one a new screen comes up with 'Download File' which I clicked on, then a new page opened with 'done' on the bottom but no picture.
Then I rightclicked on one and saved it to my computer...it shows the e emblem but nothing I try will allow me to open it...no error messages at all.
Thanks

Hi I have checked hotmail does support gifs and it does

It is possible the files have been corrupted

Coud you ask your friend to resend them to you

This is what hotmail says
If you receive a blank attachment, ask the sender to resend it.
