Hi everyone!
I seem to have a problem with Adaptec Jewel Case Creator. When I first install the program it works fine, but after a one time use I get an error message telling me that jewel case creator has caused an error in MSVCRT.DLL.
Anyone have any idea's? It has me totally stumped!
Also Microsoft Motocross Maddness 2. I get an error MCM2 has caused an error in MCM2.exe
I tried anti-virus software and found nothing.
I reformatted my HD and reinstalled WindowME and I still get the same errors.
Please Help!
Thanks!:(

For the MSVCRT.DLL error, do a Start>Find or Start>Search for files and folders (can't recall exactly how it's worded in ME) and look for msvcrt.dll to see if there are multiple copies of this file (don't count ones found in .cab files). Right-click on each one found, then choose Properties and find out the version for each of the files found. Find out which is the most recent version, and rename the others to msvcrt.old, msvcrt2.old, etc. Ensure that the most recent version is in the C:\Windows\System folder.
In addition, could you post here the version number for the most recent version found.

The latest version on my computer is 6.1.8637.0 and it is in the Windows/System folder.
But it doesn't show any date for last modified.
Any other ideas are really welcomed!
Thanks!

Was there more than one instance of the msvcrt.dll file found on your computer? The one in the C:\Windows\System folder is the correct version for Windows ME. If you do have multiple instance of this file in other folders, please rename them if you haven't done so already. Let us know whether renaming the other instances of msvcrt.dll helped resolve the problem or not.

Just tried to access Roxio's site to see if they have any information there concerning this problem with the Jewel Case Creator, and, natch, the site is down for maintenance :(

When you did a search for all "folders and files", you did include hidden, system and subfolders in the search right? You probably did, but just wanted to make sure.
Also, you said that right after installing it, "it works fine the first time", but running it agin will cause the error message. How many times have you reinstalled?

I'm not sure about the hidden files/folders, but I will check this.
In the last 3 weeks, I reformatted my HD a total 12 times and reinstalled Windows ME and tried 3 versions of Easy CD creator.
They all do the same thing. I've always used this program in the past with no problems. I've also tried Nero and get the same error as with the Motocross Maddenss 2, the program works the first time and then something changes the .exe file. Then it nolonger works till I reinstall and it starts all over again.

Tried the hidden files/folders, still the same!

Well, I've read like a million posts. Seems ME does this with just about any software. On all of the forums, no one ever says if they fixed the problem or not. AHHHH! Hate that.
I've also had a rough time this week. Reinstalled XP about 5 times because I could no longer drag-n-drop files to cd. Just had to disable XP's built in CD Wizard, now problems fixed, finally.
I have Msvcrt.DLL version 6.1.8924.0 (284kb), if you would like me to email it to you. If you want to give it a shot. Well, this is a tuff one. Do you still have a tech support subscription for your computer, Microsoft or Roxio? If so, I'd give'em a buzz. In the mean time I'll still be researching.

Just saw that no one has responded to you.
I was wondering, do you have MusicMatch 7.2 or higher installed?
If so, uninstall it and see if Adaptec works now. Only suggestion for now. Also, try uninstalling Motorcross Madness and Windows Media Player, and see if works. If it does, try installing one program at a time, and see if still works etc...till you find the one that causes it not to.
