Dell Inspiron 4100 soooooooo slow

My used Dell Inspiron 4100 is soooooooooooooo slow when using on and off line, Yes I have dialup but my desktop computer is no where near this slow with dialup.

Are there some ways I can speed it up myself? or can I take it in for service and add something to speed it up some. When I try and open compuserve it takes forever to open.

I would suspect malware to be causing your slow down. You didn't say what your operating system is, but if it's Windows 98 or me it could be a resource problem. Otherwise, I would do some on-line scans(if possible)or post a HiJack This log in the cyber safety forum.
