Hi, I have a program called Smart Restore on this computer I'm not sure what it does because I cannot access it.
Whenever I try to get on it , it comes up, This is not a valid computer. I,ve had this computer from new and this program came with it.
I dont actually have any problems at the moment (thanks to CyberTec) but it would be handy to get it working.
Thanks

Hi gwil, Did this computer originally come with WinME or has it been upgraded from Win98?

If it has been upgraded, try installing this patch: Smart Restore (http://support.packardbell-europe.com/support/download/itemnr/REFFIUP02960100.asp?c=ap)

That's a Packard Bell computer and Smart Restore is their program.
Smart Restore isn't starting because the computer has lost it's
tattoo. Tattooing is identification techniques that Packard Bell uses
and the information comes from the hard drive and motherboard.

I have no idea why Packard Bell machines lose their tattoo but it
can be re-tattooed with the tattoo program on CD1 that came with the
machine.

You might want to try starting Smart Restore with the CD1 in the drive.

You can always contact Packard Bell (http://www.packardbell.com) and ask them to assist you.

Your welcome.

It's actually a small program and you select what programs
you want to put back from what was shipped with the machine.
