Can anyone tell me how to burn my photos on a cd so they can be viewed on television? Currently I am only able to view them on my computer.

How do you plan to have your television read a CD?

You could try burning them on DVD and playing them through your dvd player.. but you will need a dvd writer in your pc

That's what I was wondering: do I need a DVD burner? Sorry to be so naive - graphics is just not my thing!

Most modern home DVD players will play VCD (VideoCD) which only requires a CD-Writer.

Alternatively, if your computer's video card has TV-Out capability, it could be as simple as getting a cable to go from your computer to the AV-In of your TV.
What sort of computer do you have?

I thought maybe that would work but it doesn't. My computer is a custom built, running XP home, graphics card is relatively new, 1 gig memory and P4 2.8 processor.
Thanks

OK, backward step time...

1stly, Welcome to CyberTechHelp.
2ndly, What sort of DVD player do you have - make & model please?
3rdly, on the back of your PC, where the monitor is currently connected, how many of these connectors do you see?

There are several ways to do it. If you have a CD burner, you can make an image CD, Kodak Picture CD, or VCD, but this will obviously only work if you also have a set-top VCD/DVD player which will read one of those formats. Or, you could burn a DVD which will display/slideshow the pictures, but this requires a DVD burner and, naturally, a set-top DVD player (one cannot assume that you do). Or, you could use your TV as an extra monitor for your PC, and have your PC run a slideshow using one of the millions of image viewer/slideshow software available - this doesn't require a CD or DVD burner, or a set-top VCD/DVD player, but it does require that your PC has TV out, and your monitor has a matching input connection. Depending on the connection chosen, it may not be of a satisfactory quality.

Which brings me back to the first question: how do you plan to have the TV view the images? The method chosen will vastly affect the process needed.

I have a Sony Model DVP-NS50P CD/DVD player attached to my TV. My computer cannot easily be moved near the TV. I am attempting to burn a CD, and have done so successfully, as it plays on my computer. The problem comes when I try to play it on the CD/DVD player / TV combo.
From your comment, I suspect the problem is that my CD/DVD player cannot read the format. (?)

Very similar but mine is probably a different version. I am trying to make a video cd.

It should matter but did you create a VCD or an SVCD? What happens when you put the CD in the DVD player?

It was a VCD. The picures' colors are very distorted, and it only shows thumbnails.

Did you create the VCD in the right video format (ie. PAL or NTSC)?
