color cartridge????

I have a printer with a black cartridge and a color one too , is there a way to just print with the color one only, it is like new and the black one is almost out of ink. My printer is a HP printer 610Cl.

unfortunately when the black runs out of ink, the printer will not print, at least thats my experience with that specific printer.
