Ps3 Vs. 360

First of all, I am not posting this as a console war argument and I do want want to see that happen in the future lol, I tend to get very pissed off about people that defend the system they choose too much.

I just want to know something. From the research I did on the PS3, the PS3 is not exactly that much greater than the 360. I'm totally a Playstation guy and would love to get a PS3, but the preorders have stopped because of PS3 unit shortages. The EBgames store I went to the other day said they won't get any more systems in until early next year/May/spring. ****, that's a long time from now. My birthday is coming up soon... and of course Christmas right after (2 chances to get something awesome). The EBgames guy said they will have plenty of 360's in stock. the 360 is good. Personally, I can only think of 4 games that I'd definetaly get for the 360 although I can pick 10 for the PS3 which is not even out yet. But then again, system specs? Not too much difference, right?. Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages. I just can't decide. A cheaper 360 this year, or wait almost half a year for a most expensive PS3 with barely any more bells and whistles?

more or less, its a matter of preference

for all reasoning- never buy a 1st gen next gen console, there will always be problems. ps3 will have major problems with their B/WCompatibility and the DVDs, and most likely the Cells as well.

I chose the 360, as I wanted something for my days out in camp when i work out there. the games are overall decent. the ps3, for starters is 650 bucks released.. *** there isnt a way in hell i'll pay 1/2 my truck insurance to buy a new nextgen console that has issues.. so yeah.. sony has problems, wait until next years december holidays to buy a ps3.

If you can stand the wait, then get the PS3. The technical differences are minimal, but who cares about tech specs when it's the value of the games you're going to get out of it. If you can't wait, the 360 will make you happy, even if there's less games you want for it (which also means less money spent on it) - just ask some of the members of these forums, there are a few who are happy with the quality of it.

Is there any reason you're not considering a Wii?

Personally, I'd prefer to have 98% satisfaction NOW than 100% satisfaction in six months time!

They are both truly amazing bits of kit, the games are just a case of strokes for folks. I'm happy with Gotham2 and MotoGP3 - shoot em ups like the halo series tend to give me a bit of a minging headache after half an hour.

Whichever you go for, the HD DVD playback on a good TV is utterly stunning.

According to the setup and the parts of the ps3, it will be 2x more powerful than the 360. Don't get me wrong, the 360 is plenty powerful, but the ps3 dominates it in graphics and power. For one thing, it has a cell proccessor. Even though the games right now arn't good, they will of course get better. I think IMO that one main reason people like the 360 is only because it has Halo and because Halo 3 is coming out. Here are the specs of the PS3:

Thanks guys.

the_elans: "What u want/like more - 100% great "thing" or new and more powerfull/high quality "thing" ??"

That's hard to decide. I am the kind of high-end graphics guy, though. I always look at the graphics first. Games like Motorstorm, Tony Hawk's Project 8, Killzone 2, Gears of War and tons of others just excite me because they look good (one reason why I don't want to get a Wii, oracle128). The Wii is completely fine with me but it's just not my kind of system. There's nothing wrong or bad about it but it really does pull a certain audience towards it. I always see PS3 VS 360... never seen Wii VS whichever because it's just too different (in a good way) but I simply don't consider getting that.

I also can't wait too much longer, oracle 128, which makes me lean towards the 360. my brithday and Christmas is coming up soon so good chances for getting a 360. I'd rather do that than wait until early next year for a PS3 I'd have to pay for myself. Of course I could wait til NEXT year's birthday and Christmas, but that's just too far away from me.

for 360: THP8, Gears of War, Rainbow Six; Vegas, and NFS: Carbon are must haves for me. I've seen tall the reviews (except Vegas), they all rock to me.

for PS3: Motorstorm, THP8, NFS Carbon, RS: Vegas, Killing Day, Eight Days, 2 Days to Vegas, Getaway, Killzone 2 are must haves lol (although some of those are faaar away from now).

What I look for in a system:

-POWER
-Enough capacity (I know PS3 has a 60G, but I think I'll be ok with a 20G HD because I do not save music, movies, and pics n' such on a system like that when I have my PC so I prolly won't make much use for that which would save storage).
-High-end graphics.

Whatever you do, don't base your decision on the hardware. Do you want to sit back and watch your games play? Or do you want to actually play them and have fun?

I wanna play!!!! I only watch videogames being played at friends' places (and I really enjoy that for some reason. It's not boring at all).

Yeah I guess it really is all about what games you want to play without actually looking at the system as long as you're enjoying the games. I guess that makes me go for the PS3 then at this point.

Maybe I'll definately wait for PS3 because I had a little discussion with my parents and it doesn't look like they'll get me either system so yeah (because it's so expensive and they don't like me wasting my money on games although I TOLD them I changed my style of gaming. Back in the day I bought one game every month for PS2. Lost lots of money). But they don't trust me lol.

What happened to the Wii?
PS3 is a $1000 Heatsink Fan, pretty much the bottom half is a chunk of aluminium, Xbox 360... ehh its ok

Nintendo Wii offers the new Wiimote, which adds a new way to interact with games (in other words, i like it), Im sure Sony or Microsoft will make so mething similar sooner or later

the Wii also has backwards compatibility with Game Cube games and a virtual console for our old favourites from the good old NES and SNES days

From what im seeing PS3 is offering more Tekken, Final Fantasy series, what are they up to now? Tekken 7 or something, i dunno, FF12, soon FF13

Xbox is no different, DOA3, DOA4, DOA5, Halo 999991

Its just the old games, with a few more characters and better graphics, nothing new

on the Wii, take the new Zelda, you can use the Wiimote to control the sword, More interactive Tennis games etc

for Sony its Eye toy and DDR
ppl jumping around like crazy
DDR10 or what ever will see people just hopping continously, like cramming a 30 min jog into a 3 min workout

I'm going to queue up outside HMV on Thursday night for a wii (oh, the pun possibilities!).
It'll sit nicely under the plasma next to the 360 (not too close, or the 360 might melt the wii).

keep both away from the PS3 incase the heatsink melts and pours all over the Wii n 360 and meld them all together into one large chunk of metal and plastic

What do you mean, one or the other? What about both? Then you could have dual gaming pleasure!
