Hi,
ive downloaded a music file and was able to listen to it through limewire once it was completed. however, because there are multiple artists, the file name is long and i am suspecting that it has exceeded the character limit since i am unable to perform any kind of action to the file. to resolve this, i tried to rename the address "C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Music" to minimize the character length but i cant rename those bolded... is there an alternative solution?

Thanks

just copy your file onto the desktop, then rename it and play using your fav program?

the total file length(inlcuding path) should be 255 characters or less. Either follow TheCheekMaster's suggestion of copying the file or make sure that the file is not being used by limewire. For example, if you previewed the file in limewire and later try to rename it, the file could still be locked by limewire. Sometime when you need to reboot your machine, try to rename it or perform whatever action you intended to do in the first place. Your problem seems to stem from the file being locked by limewire and not the file length, so a reboot or open and close limewire should work, if not try to shutdown limewire and get to the directory where it stores the files.

I can't copy the file... in fact, I cant perform any action on the file. I've closed Limewire, rebooted the comp, and it still doesn't work.

I can't rename the file in Limewire, the only actions I can perform on the file is through Limewire, and those two options are Play and Delete.. so i've resorted to deleting the file through limewire and redownloading with a shorter name and lets see what happens... thanks
