Firefox startup problem

Every time I start up Firefox it says it is updating and won't go to the homepage like it should. Is there a way to fix it?

In Firefox, click on Tools, then on Options. Click on "Advanced."

Uncheck everything under "Automatically check for updates to:" then click OK.

See if that fixes it. If so and you do want it to check for updates automatically, go back and recheck them one at a time, closing and reopeing Firefox after each to see which one, or ones, is causing the hangup.

I did that and will see if it works. I'm sure it will do the job, just never saw that option before. Thanks for your help.

What version of Firefox are you running? I had a similar problem a few versions back. I think it may have been 1.0.*. Try downloading the latest directly from getfirefox.com. That may fix your problems.
