No video with mp4 file

Im trying to play an mp4 file using realplayer but im only getting the sound.Ive tried opening the file with Quicktime but it says couldnt open the file mp4 because an unknown error occured.The number of the error is 32766.I tried using Divx and that said invalid mpeg-4 file format.Cannot find the es id in the Initial Object Descriptor.Windows Media Player wont open it either it says The selected file has an extension that is not recognised by Windows Media Player.Has anyone any ideas why this wont open.Cheers

it is not supported by windows media player. (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316992)

I am not sure about the others.
