Word 2003

I,ve reinstalled Word Upgrade twice now, since it's again showing many document recoveries, won't close files as the file seems corrupted, is slow+++++++++++. I know it's a big, complicated program, but it's too much trouble.
I have 512 ram,+ 74 gigs of memory.

Would the new version of Word(2007?) be any better?
