Hello,
I have run my scan disk in w95 at various times and it has found items that may be just taking up space. It creates a check file. When I try to open it I get a screen saying open with and a lot of choices. What can I do and can I bypass this?
Thanks, John

chk files are not of any use to the average user. You can delete them safely - They are sometimes referred to as lost clusters. Here is a good description:

You can dump the chk files safely but your method of temporarily stashing them in the recycle bin until you are comfortable that you don't need them is a good idea. When I have a file that I do not wish to have active but wish to hang onto until I am satisfied it is safe to delete I place it in a special folder and change its extension to .old. This way it is present if needed/wanted but inactive. This prevents its accidental deletion if I empty the recycle bin.
