Tired of everytime I want to check my eMail I have to fill in that " windows '95 " password when I turn my computer on. What is it with that ? Can't I save that password ? I either have to fill in the password under the user name , or click " cancel ". But only by filling in the " password" do I get the option to save my password in my " dial -up" connection ( EarthLink ) . Then I get to my " Yahoo Mail " which has a " save Name and Password " option that never really works . Any way to automate these tasks ? Or get rid of some of them ? Would like to hit one or two buttons/keys/clicks and have the screen arrive quickly at my eMail page .
Thanks for any help , Marty

sounds like your talking about microsoft
family logon , its a network protocal which allows more than one user per computer.
if you don't need it you can remove it by entering network settings (not sure howto never used windows 95) and remove the protocal from settings...
the places in win98 you could access it was in control panel or the network icon on desktop (win95 and 98 are alot alike)

Thanks , Cyber , but it's not getting it done. And removing the whole network log on type stuff might leave me with consequences I'm not sure of ?

Hi there voicelit glove, welcome to the forums.
Here is the usual fix for this issue (occasionally it does not work in which case change step 2 back to "Windows Logon").
1) Start > Find > Files
Find all *.pwl files and delete them.
2) Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network
Change primary login to Client for Microsoft Networks
3) Shut down and restart
4) When password screen appears on restart, type in your username but leave the password field BLANK Click OK, then OK again to confirm the 'blank' password.
You will not be prompted for windows login again.
With regards the on-line passwords, this will depend on what version of Internet Explorer you are using.
