Okay. I have an IBM ThinkPad that I got from my uncle. It's been working pretty well since I got it with some little problems. One day, my mouse just stopped working. It doesn't respond when I move the tiny red thingy or it will, but it will go somewhere else. It's like it's fighting against me. I need help. I believe it is a PS/2 mouse, but I'm not 100% sure. Please help!!!

Hi Steffanie and welcome to CTH. What make and model IBM ThinkPad do you have. If you are referring to the "tiny red thingy" that looks like a electrical fuse button in the front/middle of your laptop when you say the mouse doesnt work, this is a pre-cursor to touchpad software.
Have you tried connecting an external mouse?

I tried connecting 3 external mice. Nothing worked. I'm unsure of the make and model. I just know it starts as windows 98. *shrug*

Did you try connecting the external mouse while your laptop was turned off and restarting it?

I'll try that. Thanks
