lagging video
Hey guys, heres my problem. I have Verizon Fios with their Actiontec router they give out. I have two pc's connected on my network. One is through a wireless lan. When I stream from either computer to the other Avi's, specifically encoded with xvid there is a lag or delay where the video pauses for a second every couple of minutes. I connected the computers together with wired cat5 cable and the problem went away. This leads me to beleive the problem is something with the connection. What I can not understand though is I have full bars at 54Mbs. This only happens on avi's as well. I am even able to stream High definition x.264 videos with no problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as what I could do to fix this problem. Thank you

Convert all your divix vids to mpeg4? No really just kidding there but wireless is about the worst way you could stream data over a network. Even at full speed you never really get as fast a data rate as wired. As far as why only divix has the problem and not other forms of video I couldn't tell you. That wouldn't really be a networking issue but more of a software thing. Most likely having to do with compression and codec and all that software stuff I don't know about.
