 I got an old computer, with Windows98 installed on it, however, I would rather use Windows 2000. I inserted the Boot Disk into the drive, and resatarted my computer.
 To my surprise, Win98 started to load up, without giving me an option to boot from the disk! I then clicked on "My Computer" and tried to see if it was recognized... and it was NOT.
I tried the boot disc in a different computer, and it saw it. (so its not the disk) Then i tried a different Disk in the old computer, and it recognized the other disk. (so its not the drive)
:hmm: Could anyone tell me what is going on?? I would like to Format, and Install Win2000. thanks

You'll probably need to get into the BIOS, also called Setup, to move the drive you're putting the boot disk into up to first in the boot device order.

If the computer isn't nice enough to display a screen early during bootup telling you what key to press to enter Setup, try repeatedly pressing and releasing the Del key as soon as the computer begins to boot.

Once you're in the BIOS, poke around until you find the boot device order, move the boot disk drive up to first place and use the "Exit Saving Changes" option.

It should then boot to your boot disk.

but.. it doesn't even see whats on the disk!!
when i put the disk in my other computer.. the my computer section reads it as Win2000 Boot... cause thats what I named it. when i put it in this old computer, it doesnt even SEE it.
i would assume it would have to see it, before it can boot from it, right?

also... i looked at that bootdisk.com site... and im sorry to say...
that stuff is a little confusing to me. i dont have a clue how to program.

ok... i notice when its loading ... it flashed real fast.. "FAILURE" when trying to boot from CDROM.

i DID also notice this computer is running in FAT32 file system. not NTFS.
does that make a difference?, and if so... how can i change it, if i cant format?
