My computer is asking for unicows (I think I deleted the old one) when I install and/or run a video player program.

I've been to microsoft to get unicows and it says to just run the exe file, and it doesn't say anything else.

But when you run the exe file it asks where you would like to install the files?

I don't know. There are two files to be extracted
unicows.dll
unicows.pdb this one is not recognised by my computer (i.e. it has no file icon)

I put the files into C: program files \common files

but that didn't work. So where do I install the files?

Copy unicows.pdb and unicows.dll to C:/Windows/System..

Click Start > Run > type the following and click OK.

regsvr32 C:\Windows\System\unicows.dll

Ok got the following message,

C;\windows\system\unicows.exe was loaded but the dll register server entry point was not found.
Dll register server may not be exported or a corrupt version of unicows.dll may be in memory consider using Pview to detect and remove it.

If it helps when I copied the files across it did not ask if I wanted to overwite existing file.

However the problem I had, about this media player (VLC) not running and asking for unicows, has gone away, my programme is now running again, so I could be all fixed???

Edit: I just rebooted and the program still works so it looks like unicows is ik now. Thanks for your help.
