Skip 1st 2 paragraphs if you don't want the gory details of my plight.

Well, my debacle started about 3 days ago when I replaced a mother board on a system that had a dual boot with 2 hard drives. One with win98SE and one with windows2000 (so it used to work).

Since then I have had to re-install 2000 , that somehow wiped out my win98 or messed it up so I had to re-partition that and re-isntall 98. Then after getting both hard drives the way I wanted (day 3) I was having trouble setting up the boot.ini (wish I had backed up the old one!@!!) and decided to use this smart boot manager thing I found on ultimatebootcd.com site. Well that thing somehow killed my win98se boot. soooooooooooooo I am currently reformatting my win98 drive because re-installing win98 over win98SE got BSOD. (for somereason my win98se cd won't install by itself, it has to be over top of win98)

So my main question is what does the boot.ini need to have to prompt for win2000 and win98 when they are on separate HDs?

AND

WHich drive should the boot.ini be on?

And

Which should be master and which should be slave?

Day 4 heading into day 5 it looks like. I really hate replacing motherboards.

That one is ok and has some helpful info , but this link I found was a better remedy for my specific situation. Its one of the best step-by-step , easy to understand procedures for this dual boot set up I have found. AND IT WORKS!!

Dual boot with win98 and win2000 or win98 and winXP (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mosaddique/Dual-Boot%20-%20Add%20Win98SE%20to%20WinXP.html)
