I have been having a window show up that says: "The system has detected a conflict for IP address 192.168.100 with the system having hardware address 00.01:02:75:80:30. The interface has been disabled."
My wife gets one on her computer that says "Windows has detected a conflict with another system on your network." She runs XP on her computer and I've got ME on mine. We are hooked to the internet with a cable router system which is hooked into Cox cable. Can anyone tell us what this is? Thanks.......jgc

shut down pc's. restart your router and boot up the machines one after each other to see if that helps?

I just sat down to send a reply and say thanks, that did the trick, then when the screen came on the same message was there again. I saw a post for a question about the same type of thing with the same numbers and read that. I am guessing that the 192...etc would be the home site(?) of the router but since it is a few years old it may have within itself another address. Can someone confirm or debunk this thinking?

If you could post the make and model number of the router is would help us a bit. If you are getting ip conflicts that means either dhcp in the router isn't working the way it should or that you have static addressed the computers with the same ip address. Either way its not a good thing to have happen.

Allmost forgot about this because I haven't seen the window for a couple of days. I found the installation disc and it says it is a Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router Model # BEFSR41. Thanks for your input and help. jgc
