I just installed a DVD drive in my computer and it wont play DVDs. I have installed a DVD playing program from ATI, and have ensured that it was installed correctly with the correct driver. What should I do?

Is the DVD drive listed in device manager, is there an exclamation mark? What happens when you put a DVD in?

The drive is listed as Drive E, and in the Device manager, there is no exclamation mark or error at all.... When i put a DVD in, I get nothing. When i first Put a DVD in, i was told the machine was out of memory, so i increased virtual memory and I did think anything about ram because it has 128 MB on windows 98. Im not sure what I should do!?

128 MB ram is pretty low these days, but you should still get something playing. What is the ATI program you installed? Can you browse to the contents of the DVD through My Computer/E:? Is it just DVD movies or is it DVD Roms also that are playing up?

I cant even get a CD to play through it now... but it is still in the device manager as working properly. The ATI program I installed was DVD Player version 5.0 with DVD decoder.

Is the DVD drive new and has it worked since you installed it. Could be faulty, but first, have you set the jumpers correctly (master if it's on it's own IDE channel, slave if sharing) if so uninstall the drive, restart and install the drivers again.
